Human Engine Insights - May 2023

Hey everyone! Hope you've all been doing well. It's that time again for another monthly newsletter from Human Engine. From exciting developments to fun updates, we are confident you'll find something interesting in our latest edition. So, grab your favourite beverage and enjoy catching up with us!

Mayday!

We blinked in February and now it's the end of May! Are you finding time is flying at the moment? It's been a few months since our last newsletter (naughty marketing person!), so here we are, a great month full of blooming flowers and warmer weather - summer is just around the corner! We've also had three(!) bank holidays this month... This means at the time of writing; it's 93 Days, 6 Hours, and 59 Minutes (not that anyone is counting) until the next one at the end of August.

May has been a busy month with various events and happenings worldwide. In international news, the hot topic has been the cost of living and the conflict in Ukraine - it feels never-ending. Our thoughts go out to those affected by the war. Closer to home, we've had Eurovision hosted in Liverpool (well done Liverpool City Council) and a small 'do' for the Coronation of King Charles III. This month has also seen the first local elections for many since 2019. The election saw changes across numerous councils - either changing seats or having no overall control. This has caused significant repercussions across the political landscape. We want to commiserate with those who lost their seats and congratulate those elected to represent their constituency. Over the coming months, we might connect with a few of you at the Local Government Association Conference (keep reading for more on this!)

At our HQ, our team has been working (and playing) hard recently and kick-started some significant projects with new and existing clients. Once we can, we will share case studies and details on social media and via www.human-engine.co.uk - keep your eyes peeled. Please keep reading for what else our team have been up to!

Featured Case Study - Tackling Modern Slavery in Supply Chains

Modern slavery is one of the great evils of today's world. It is a complex and often hidden crime estimated to affect around 40 million people worldwide. As the authority responsible for prosecuting modern slavery cases in the UK, it was imperative that the Crown Prosecution Service identified and managed the risks in its own supply chain.

Click the link below to discover how Human Engine supported the Crown Prosecution Service and the Attorney General's Office (UK) to meet their legal obligations in respect of modern slavery and to implement best practice supply chain monitoring processes.

Team Day - May 2023

Our team spreads far and wide across the UK. As we've grown, it has become a nice bonus for us to meet up. Earlier this month, we got together for a team day to focus on what YEAR 6 of Human Engine will look like - we also took this opportunity to dive into tapas and a few jugs of sangria! Based on the many empty bowls (primarily thanks to our marketing person's favourite new phrase - 'me traes patatas bravas'), no one left hungry!

International Nurses Day 2023

International Nurses Day is celebrated annually on May 12th to honour nurses' contributions and hard work worldwide. Why this day? It marks the anniversary of Florence Nightingale's birth (the founder of modern nursing). The day is celebrated with special events, conferences, and gatherings to appreciate the tireless efforts of nurses in the healthcare sector. It's a perfect opportunity to acknowledge the dedication and sacrifice of nurses who work relentlessly to provide quality care to patients. Human Engine is proud to work alongside the NHS and, specifically, our clients, Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (EPUT) and the The Nursing and Midwifery Council. You can read about our work with them here:

So let's take a moment to thank and appreciate the nurses working tirelessly to keep us safe and healthy.

Happy International Nurses Day 2023!

Meet Us! LGA Conference 2023

Human Engine will be attending #LGAconf23!

It's in July, but we're looking forward to meeting those from local government and the private and voluntary and community sectors at the most significant event in the #LocalGov calendar!

Place a pin 📌 in your diary, save the date, Bournemouth, 4-6 July 23.

Jonathon Noble, Michael Curnow and Ben Smith will represent our team this year. They will be on stand P18 in the exhibition room. Drop by; it would be great to see you!

Until Next Time!
