About Us
Human Engine is a Financial Times top-ranked management consultancy with specialisms in strategy, commercial, change, digital, and projects.
We started in 2018 because we believed the public sector deserved better from consulting – more personal, more human and more knowledgeable of the realities of modern public services. All consulting firms say they’re different – with a founding team that came from within the public sector, the Human Engine difference is that we’ve seen it, done it and been on the sharp end of change and financial challenges.
We are a small but quickly growing company that works with clients in local government, central government, the NHS, charitable and regulatory sectors. But business growth is just a means to an end. What matters most to us is creating a company culture where everyone can thrive and, in doing so, deliver outstanding outcomes with clients. A lot of companies say this – but with no shareholders to keep happy and no investors to pay back, we’re all about creating a culture where people are happy, fulfilled and can excel at work. Whatever the nature of the project, our mission is to help organisations and individuals to do the best work of their lives.
About the Roles
Commissioning, procurement and contract management consulting has been a big part of our business from the very start. From tackling modern slavery in supply chains with the Crown Prosecution Service to identifying significant multi-million savings from contracts and third-party spending for local authorities, our commissioning, procurement and contracts practice area is a key area of growth.
We’re looking for Senior Consultants and Principal Consultants to join this well established area of the business. All our consulting roles involve strategic change in some way – whether developing strategy, identifying savings or designing target operating models and processes.
The vast majority of our work in this area takes place with our local government clients – so it’s essential that applicants have knowledge and experience of commissioning or procurement in a local government environment. This experience may come from working directly in the sector or from working closely with clients on related projects in consulting roles.
Senior Consultants up to £65k
Senior Consultants bring deep subject matter expertise and plenty of experience to help our clients achieve things they can’t do alone. At this level, you’ll be a seasoned change agent who will lead on projects, often being the client’s most senior regular contact. You’ll play a vital role as a subject matter expert on larger programmes – and our approach to matrix working means you’ll sometimes be leading these programmes, too.
Principal Consultants up to £85k
Principal Consultants bring outstanding insight and substantial experience to help our clients solve wicked issues. You’ll lead on programmes and projects and be given a high degree of autonomy and empowerment to design and deliver solutions with clients. You’ll play an active role in developing the business, through contributing to tenders and proposals and playing an active role in national networks as an ambassador for our work.
